This new tool facilitates iShadow installation by addressing Citrix MFCOM registration issues with Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003 (with or without SP1) as well as other odd situations with DCOM o­n Windows based systems.

Originally Citrix provided MFCOM registration tool with their SDKs available at http://www.citrix.com/cdn. Starting with MetaFrame XP 1.0 FR3 MFREG tool is included with MetaFrame installation (well, we are not suppose to call it “MetaFrame” - this name is history…)

Besides the fact that MFREG is not allowed for unauthorized distribution, there are many versions of MFCOM and thus different flavors of MFREG. These concerns coupled with general DCOM issues prompted design of this tool TekReg (Tek – for Teknica, Reg – for Registration). Here is a short list of features:

Unlike Citrix MFREG:
1. TekReg supports all known versions of MFCOM (through 4.0)
2. Will not damage MFCOM service
3. Allows synchronization with server version
4. Does address DCOM permissions
5. Does not need to be included with the system after registration
6. Is available for distribution without Citrix SDK
