Interoperability Mode (working with Third Party virtual displays)
Starting with version 1.0.0.720 Virtual Display Manager honors third party virtual displays, available for example from Citrix Systems as part of Presentation Server 4.5 FR1 and Desktop Server 2.0. By default, VDM detects these displays and treats them as physical monitors which can be further subdivided by VDM.

Addition of VDM to the standard full screen Citrix ICA session enhances application compatibility with multiple monitors as well as provides a more granular control. For example, by turning Interoperability Mode ON and OFF Virtual Display Manager can turn ON and OFF the multi-monitor support without losing remote connectivity, capability which otherwise is not available.

Interoperability menu is found at the bottom of the VDM's System Tray menu and is only enabled for remote sessions with built-in multi-monitor virtualization.

This version offeres improved support for full screen RDP sessions under VDM when starting from tMicrosoft's MSTSC.EXE client:

Originally VDM was focused on supporting the “full screen” environments, local or remote. But how about seamless applications published Via Citrix Presentation Server or Microsoft Windows 2008?
Here is is one of the approaches how to do it:

  1. Install VDM on the target server (or servers)
  2. Either publish VDM.exe or make sure it runs alongside published applications that are launched from the same server
  3. Enjoy granular control of the seamless applications from that server(s)

Note: Best results were achieved with themes enabled.

Another interesting aspect of VDM usefulness under Citrix is the ability to diagnose any issues with native Citrix multi-monitor assignments, which can be clearly visible via VDM configuration applet:

Citrix Monitors is seamless mode

Fig.2 Diagnostics of Citrix virtual monitors when in seamless mode. Two virtual Citrix monitors are shown.

PS. Similar results are expected with Microsoft Windows 2008 via Terminal Services application publishing.

Your product solves some problems but introduces more. Now, if I try this at work and ask my boss to pay for it I think he will balk. Maybe he thinks if others see what I have they will want it too. This could cause issues with those who think I am being favored. I guess bosses need to consider these things. Also, I will want bigger monitors (actually I want bigger and more of them). So I guess I may have to check this out at home and see how to introduce it at work. May I put this on two computers if I buy VDM myself and at work wish to have that functionality? Sometimes I work from home too but still two computers - is this allowed by license?

License is bound to specific computer. However we might consider a few exceptions when helping multi-monitor enthusiasts.
