I'd like some clarification on the license.  The license I receive says "1 user license".  Does this mean that iSD is licensed to the user, and not the machine?

What I mean is, if I have several computers I am using (I have 3 on my desktop), can I install my same license on all three computers, so long as I am the only user using it?

Further, what about the inverse?  If I have iSD installed on a computer that I use, and other users (with their own accounts) also use this computer, are they allowed to use the iSD installed on that computer?

Thanks.

Excellent question!

Below you will find a brief insight into iShadow licensing.

At present iShadow Desktop is licensed per user, which usually implies that multi-machine installations are allowed, although only that one user that had purchased the product is allowed to use the application. This is not a license based on concurrency, i.e. use by other individuals is not permitted.

At the same time iShadow Application Suite is licensed per server, and thus provides support for an unlimited number iShadow Desktop (part of the Suite) users on that licensed machine.

We are moving towards changing the licensing model which will work like this:

  • iShadow Desktop will be licensed per machine
  • There will be two types of licenses:
    1. Low cost license for console sessions (local or remote).
    2. License for concurrent sessions that will support unlimited number of users on the licensed machine.
  • The First license type will be convenient for Workstation use or with Servers that are accessed via the console session or local login.
  • The Second license is costeffective for installations on Terminal Servers or Citrix with multiple concurrent users using the product.

Both licenses will be user independent, so if you license computer with iShadow Desktop, you and your coworkers will be able to use this application without any license violations.
Note that iShadow2Go is licensed per USB device we provide you with, so it can be used by any number of users (one at a time) on any number of machines (one at a time).

Thanks for the clarification. How will existing licenses be grandfathered in? Will my 1-user license simply become a 1-machine license? I don't like that idea, because I bought iShadow with the idea that I could use it on all of the computers I personally use (3, at present, and I use them all simultaneously on my desktop).

When will this licensing come into effect? With 4.0?
