As you can see it was awhile after that original post in 2006. Technically there is absolutely no challenge to provide iShadow2Go on a “regular” USB stick.
Here is a though process why we did not go after generic devices:
PROs (Generic US stick):
- No “special” media to ship – i.e. fast on-line delivery
- Get USB Sick (or iPod, for example) that fits your own style (capacity, design, color, etc.)
CONs (Generic US stick):
- No guarantee that you will no contract a virus and infect all computers you are using this USB device with
- No guarantee that application is on the authorized device · Possibility of accidental application damage due to delete/overwrite, power failure, etc.
- Once application is damaged, reloading might require a new license
iShadow2Go specifics on a custom device:
- iShadow2Go checks internal encrypted ID and thus guarantees that device is original
- Future options for multi-factor authentication based on the hardware identity (not USB ID!)
- No easy way to damage the application (unless there is severe mechanical or electrical damage to the sick)
Fast on-line delivery can probably outweigh all the CONs, however dangers of virus contamination is very serious and we will 100% disclaim ourselves from any responsibility |
