Virtual Display Manager provides a few dozen of prebuilt templates which can be customized further via flips and rotations. There is another option however – Custom Templates, that can be “created from scratch”.
To start a new Custom Template, click on “Add Configuration” button within VDM Configuration window and click on “Customize” button within “VDM – Add Configuration” window.
New window “VDM – Custom Template” will allow each new Virtual Display to be configured via a corresponding rectangle. Customize X by Y grid accordingly, to simplify the steps needed.
Since all Virtual Display placements are renumbered in a left-to-right, top-to-bottom fashion once Custom Template is saved, the order in which each placement is created is not important.
Here is a brief tutorial on how to configure a 3×3 Monitor split into Virtual Displays:
Note that Custom Configurations can be exported and imported via VDC files.
